may solstice illuminate that which you have not been able to see ✨
when i close my eyes, it takes me a moment to adjust to the darkness
but then, i see the colors, they’re brilliant and scattered. they feel chaotic yet expansive. there is a whole world in the darkness.
sometimes when we first enter into the darkness, it can feel scary. there are things there that we might not be familiar with. or truths that we haven’t been able to reckon with. darkness asks us to slow allll the way down, and see what’s really here? and the first things that we may be confronted with are fear and grief. while i still feel very much like i’m not there yet, i’ve come to learn that fear and grief are my companions on this journey. it’s important, especially in times where they don’t feel overwhelming, to build a relationship with my fear, with my grief, my anger, my sadness.
because at first even though they might feel all consuming, the colors do eventually shine through.
may this solstice bring forth the colors illuminated in the darkness.
may we get free as soon as possible.
and may the darkness hold us as we do the work of liberation together.
so be it, see to it ✨
